Should a girl join the ship engineering

Girls 'Day 2021 - The girls' future day at the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences

In 2021 we will again take part in Girls' Day, which this year will take place on April 22nd, 2021. So that there is something for everyone, we offer insights into various areas of study at our university.

Girls' Day at the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences is taking place digitally this year.

Schoolchildren can choose from a varied range and experience exciting virtual experiments and presentations. Maritime, IT, language, energy or food - depending on your interests, a degree from a university of applied sciences opens up paths to your career.

But please don't forget: You can only be sure of a place in our Girls ‘Day program if you register via the Girls Seite Day page. The link to the respective program item can always be found below after the descriptions. Please register by April 20th at the latest.

Offers from the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences for Girls ‘Day - Girls Future Day 2021

1. Come on board our maritime center!

You can digitally sign up for a day on board our Maritime Center on the Flensburg Fjord. We'll show you how, with a degree in nautical or marine engineering, you can sail across all five oceans on the really big ships and make sure that goods can enter German ports from anywhere in the world. We will tell you about interesting research projects at the Maritime Center, as you will later have many opportunities to work on land.

2. How do the stars come to the sky?

A planetarium is a simulator of the starry sky. But digital planetariums can do much more than that. With the help of sophisticated software, you can virtually leave the earth and fly around the universe. The picture for this is shown above you on a dome. Since the dome is much larger than any screen, you have the feeling of sitting in the middle of the "scene". The software integrates high-resolution models of all kinds of things, from planets to digital models of spaceships. We can go back in time or see what the starry sky will look like in the future.

If you are interested in media informatics and would like to see how such software is operated and what the result will look like in a dome preview, you are cordially invited to look over our shoulder in the planetarium.

Here you will be shown the basics of 3D printing. With our help, you design your individual key fob yourself on the computer and see how it is then produced in the 3D printer. You will receive your personal key ring home as a souvenir of the workshop.

In addition to fun and creativity, you will also get an insight into a FabLab. We'll show you how you can use the latest production technology to be creative. Whether mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or computer science - in the IDEENREICH projects from different technical courses are implemented.
